My name is Lance Ulin, and I’m originally from the small town of Milo, Iowa. Growing up surrounded by cornfields and close-knit communities, I never imagined the adventures that lay ahead. Life in Milo was simple yet fulfilling, but deep down, I knew there was more waiting beyond the horizon.
After completing high school, I ended up in the city of Des Moines, where I pursued a career in wireless first as a sales rep, then a store manager, and finally a district manager for Metro by T-Mobile. Life seemed stable and secure until a series of unexpected events – betrayals, the loss of loved ones, a breakup, and series of unfortunate events – turned my world upside down.
Faced with uncertainty and feeling like I had hit rock bottom, I made a bold decision to embark on a journey of self-discovery. With nothing but a backpack and a passport card, I set off to explore what laid beyond the borders of the US starting in Mexico. What began as a leap of faith soon evolved into a transformative experience that would shape the course of my life.
In Mexico, amidst the chaos and beauty of a new culture, I found solace and inspiration. From trying exotic foods to navigating unfamiliar streets, every moment was an adventure. But it wasn’t just about exploration – it was about confronting my fears, embracing resilience, and discovering strengths I never knew I had.
